Myco Mojo Product Guides…
If you already purchased products from us and you’d like to check what you need to do with them, we’ve put together a few simple product guides that you might find helpful. If you’re a newcomer to mushroom cultivation and are trying to work out how hard or easy if is to grow mushrooms, you should also find these guides product guides useful. If you find watching instructions on video rather than reading them, you’ll also find a very wide range of ‘how to’ videos on sites such as YouTube – and if you do that, we’d suggest watching several, as different growers do things in different ways.
Anyway, if you’re a newcomer to mushroom growing, you might be looking at the grain, substrate or grow bags you purchased from us and wondering what you’re supposed to do next. We’ve produced some very simple guides – you’ll find the links below – which we hope will answer at least some of your questions.
All in One Grow Bags
Your ‘all in one’ grow bag contains two components – sterilised grain, which is where your mycelium can start to grow, and CVG substrate which your grain will eventually need to be mixed with later in the process. These bags are suitable for use in growing what are often known as ‘manure loving mushrooms’, more correctly known as coprophilous mushrooms. If in doubt, search the internet to see what mushrooms are included in this category.
As explained in our product guides, and as is the case with all sellers of ‘all in one’ bags, you need to provide your own inoculate.

Sterilised Grain – Rye, Wheat, Millet etc
We supply sterilised grain in heat-sealed mushroom bags. This grain is intended to be used to make ‘grain spawn’ which, once colonised, can then be added to your chosen substrate as the next step in growing mushrooms.
We use top-quality Unicorn mushroom bags, which have air-exchange filters built-in and are also equipped with simple adhesive injection ports, which are added post-sterilisation.

Colonised Grain Spawn – eg King Oyster Mushrooms
Our pre-colonised grain spawn is probably the quickest way to grow your own edible mushrooms in a way that suits you, without resorting to over-priced grow boxes commonly available elsewhere. We prepare the grain, typically Rye, but often with millet added to help speed things up, and occasionally with slices of agar in the grain which is sometimes used to inoculate the grain.
Our grain spawn needs only to be mixed with your chosen substrate in a suitable container and then it’s just a case of waiting until the whole mixture is colonised. Click here to read our product guide on using colonised grain spawn.
